God-Centered.  The Holy Scriptures provide the foundation for worship.  Worship is an opportunity to praise God and for God to change, heal, energize, and encourage us through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Sermons are Biblically based and seek to bridge the historic meanings with those issues that face us each day to provide contemporary significance.  Because Jesus (the Word made flesh) is alive, the Word is alive as well, and seeks to teach us and transform us each day.

 

Participatory.  Our musicians, singers and teachers welcome us to God's presence.  We incorporate aids such as: music; responsive readings; congregational and personal prayer; public testimonies; scripture meditation and the Lord's Supper.  The Sacrament of the Holy Communion is the central act of worship at First Christian Church and celebrated at all worship services.  The Lord's Supper is an open table at First Christian Church and all who believe and confess that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior are encouraged to partake.

 

Creative and Inviting.  Worship on Sunday mornings is multi-sensory including sounds, sights, movements and tastes.  From the Greeting to the Benediction, we want members and guests to feel welcome, regardless of where they stand economically, racially, physically or emotionally.  We are all broken, just in different ways.  We come as we are, to God as He is, in His amazing grace and truth.

 

Intergenerational.  First Christian Church strives to involve the whole family in Worship.  Our members and guests are of all age groups.  We provide quality and variety in our worship services that helps to maintain Christian traditions and enhance a sense of community in Christ.  We sing, pray and play instruments that reflect the vast range of ages, so that we can impact the next generation as well as the current one.  Nursery care is provided for children under the age of 3.
