First Christian Church will be hosting Safe Harbor the week of February 23rd - March 1st. We will need help in a variety of areas; food and supplies, meals, morning and evening volunteers, and overnight volunteers. Please contact the church office (231)946-4074 or sign up beginning in January for the various positions needed.
Safe Harbor is a faith based ministry offering love and service to the homeless of the Traverse City area through emergency shelter, meals, community, and encouragement to move forward in a positive direction in their lives.
Safe harbor is a shelter program that rotates between a number churches in the Traverse City community providing evening and morning meals and volunteers who are available to serve the guests and socialize with them.
Shelter Schedule 2012 - 2013
The Shelter will open each night at 6:00 p.m. and the Shelter will lock
its doors at 8:00 p.m. each night until 6:00 a.m. the next morning
* Transportation provided by church vans when there is an asterick next to the church name. The other churches are within walking distance from downtown.
Pick up location is in front of Government Center, 400 Boardman Ave. at 5:45 p.m.
